Melanie Lynskey

 Melanie Jayne Lynskey ( born 16 May 1977) is a New Zealand actress. Her portrayals of complex women, as well as her ability to speak American dialects make her a popular choice for independent film production. Lynskey has been awarded two Critics' Choice Awards, a HCA Award, a Gracie and a New Zealand Film Award, the Hollywood Film Award, and an award from the Sundance Special Jury Award, and also Gotham, Satellite, Saturn, Golden Nymph, Independent Spirit, Screen Actors Guild and Primetime Emmy Award nominations.





 Lynskey made her debut on screen in Heavenly Creatures (1994), winning an New Zealand Film Award for her role as the teenage murderess Pauline Parker. She later appeared in various international productions, such as Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock City, But I'm a cheerleader The Cherry Orchard (all 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000), Snakeskin (2001), Shooters, Abandon, and Sweet Home Alabama (all 2002). After moving to the United States, Lynskey became known as a character actor getting recognition for a mix of big-budget and small-scale films, including Shattered Glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006), Away We Go, Up in the Air, The Informant!, Leaves of Grass (all 2009), Win Win (2011) and Seeking the Friend to the final day of the World, The Perks of Being a Wallflower (both 2012), They Came Together (2014), and Don't Look Up (2021).





 Lynskey's starring role in the film Hello I Must Be Going as an emotionally depressed divorcee earned her an acclaim from critics in 2012 as well as earned her a Gotham Award nomination. This was a pivotal moment in Lynskey's career. Her subsequent roles include The Big Ask (2013) and Happy Christmas, We’ll Never Have Paris (all 2014), The Intervention (all 2016), Rainbow Time, Little Boxes (2016), I Don't Feel the Home of This World Anymore (both 2017), Sadie (2018) and Lady of the Manor (2021) and established her standing as a prominent figure within the American independent film industry.
